Bei diesem Schweizer Kulturprojekt in Gjirokaster, einer Gebirgsstadt im Süden Albaniens, beteiligten sich Künstler aus fünf Ländern: Albanien, Deutschland, Kosova, Mazedonien und Schweiz. Alle schufen Installationen in Räumen des verfallenen Jugendhauses, worin sich Schutt und Staub türmten, statt Fenster boten Maueröffnungen Blicke auf die alten Steinhäuser und dem gepflegten Stadthaus. Hadmut Bittiger hat ihren Raum im zweiten Stock so belassen, wie sie ihn vorfand: Schutt und Geröll in der Ecke und auf dem Fenstersims, die vier scheibenlosen Fensteröffnungen gaben einen eindrücklichen Blick nach draußen. An die Wände befestigte sie Zellophantüten, mit nach vorne geklappten Böden, so angereiht, dass sie sich in einer fließenden Bewegung vom Boden zur Decke bis zur gegenüber liegenden Wand erstreckten. Dort, zwischen den Fensteröffnungen hingen zwei kleine Objekte, geformt aus lokalen Zeitungen, sowie Acryl und bedruckten Folien nach Postkartenmotiven. Unter dem Titel Albanien, Land der Adler sind eine weibliche und eine männliche Person in traditioneller Landestracht zu sehen. Sie symbolisieren die uralte Tradition Albaniens.
PANTA RHEI: EVERYTHING IS IN FLUX
Artists from five countries – Albania, Germany, Kosovo, Macedonia, and Switzerland – participated in this Swiss culture project in Gjirokaster, a mountain town in southern Albania. All of them created installations on the ruined premises of the youth club amidst debris and dust, where breaches in the walls rather than windows looked out on old stone buildings and the spruce town hall. Hadmut Bittiger left her room in the second storey as it was: debris and scree in the corner and on the windowsill; the four empty window openings affording a striking outlook. She attached cellophane bags on the walls with the bottoms folded forwards and so arranged that they flowed from floor to ceiling across to the opposite wall. There, between window openings, two small objects hung, constructed from local newspapers, acrylics, and printed foil with postcard motifs. Under the title Albania, Land of Eagles, they show-ed a woman and a man in traditional national costumes, symbolizing the ancient tradition of Albania.
